How I Found Reiki:
My journey with Reiki began in such a way that at the time it felt like mere happenstance, but now I see it was meant to be. It began when I first saw a Reiki Level 1 course in an adult education brochure. Although I knew nothing about Reiki, I was very interested and felt a tug on my heart. Due to the comings and goings of life, I delayed in registering for the class, and sadly when I was finally able to commit my time, the class was no longer being offered. I was very disappointed, but I thought such is life. I attempted to move on. Little did I know, Reiki was not moving on from me. Within a week an excellent opportunity for a Reiki healing session became available just down the street from my house. It was clear that this was my chance to experience and learn about Reiki; I had to take it. The Practitioner was wonderful in explaining what I needed to know and what to expect during a healing session. The experience was wonderful and I left that day feeling very relaxed. The session had such an impact on me that I immediately scheduled a follow-on session. It was during this second session that I knew Reiki was something I wanted to pursue further.
My journey as a practitioner of Reiki began with my Level I attunement in 2014. For the next six months, I practiced my newly learned skills and fueled my desire to learn more. I quickly advanced my skills with a Level 2 attunement, and could feel a strong pull to not stop there. I committed myself to mastering my abilities, and in 2015 I was attuned as a Master Practitioner. For the next few years, I enjoyed providing healing opportunities to many of my friends and family as well as practicing self-healing. At the time, I felt my journey with Reiki had reached a destination, and I was very happy with where it had taken me.
When I first began my journey back in 2014, reaching the level of Master Teacher had never been in my purview. However in 2019, I found myself called again to learn more. I had developed my own skills, but now it would be time to pass that knowledge on to others. After committing myself to the task, I completed my certification as a Master Teacher in June 2020. Looking back on my life, I can now see how large a role Reiki played. Additionally, I realize that my Reiki journey came about in just the way it was meant to be. I am truly excited for what this next phase as a Master Teacher has for me and all of the amazing people I will have an opportunity to meet.
My journey with Reiki has progressed alongside a career in the child care profession. For the past 20 years, I have worked in a private day care as the lead infant/toddler teacher and recently as an Assistant Director. In 2017, I became certified as a children’s yoga instructor, combining my personal enjoyment of yoga with my love for children. Throughout this time, I have also maintained my CPR certification.
In addition to my passion for Reiki, I have had a very full and rewarding personal life. I have been married to my husband for 35+ years and had the ultimate joy of being a mother to three grown sons. I have been blessed with two daughters- in- law and three grandsons. My family plays a key role in my life and brings me so much joy. In addition to spending time with my family, I enjoy being outside in nature, practicing yoga, and riding my motorcycle.
